How do you defeat a demon god thing? Get a whole lot of gods of light to help, or better, allfathers.
In any case, when all was said and done, and the bad guy was gone, struck from existence by lightning at the tip of a hammer, it was Fet who strode into the room wielding that hammer, having won the right to use it, just this once, from Odin, in an arm-wrestling match.
Her bindings took only a moment to strike away, and then Fet was kneeling, wrapping her in one of his coats, and lifting her. The rest of the world could burn, now, for all he cared. He had found her.
"Got you Dutch. Time to go home." And he turned and left as the others cleaned up, carefully carrying her past the place and out the hole in the wall he had made. His hands held her carefully, loosely, so she could slip away any moment she wanted to. And he was worried, very worried, as he carried her. He had salves, and sutures, medicine of all kinds, waiting in his place, for her.
It took more than a minute for Dutch to convince herself that she wasn’t dreaming. She had given up all hope of rescue. Worse than that, she’d convinced herself that if anyone would try to rescue her they would wind up dead, yet somehow here was Vasiliy Fet and he’d killed the thing that had tortured and violated her so cruelly. She was in his arms, safe and sound.
“Vasiliy?” She asked in a quiet voice. A shaky hand reached up to touch his face, see if he was real. “Tell me you’re really here. Tell me I’m not dreaming.” The tears in her eyes spilled over and ran down her cheeks. Dutch was petrified that this was some cruel trick. What else was that thing capable of? It wasn’t human and it wasn’t strigoi. It was something more powerful.
Dutch tried to convince herself that she was safe, but after all she had been through it was hard to accept. Even in the arms of the man she loved she felt shaken up. Still, she clung to him desperately like her very life depended on it. If this was truly him, then he was safe. He was safe and so was she and maybe he would still love her after the things she had done.
"I've got you, Dutch. I'm really real. I'm sorry we didn't get to you sooner. Needed to get some backup." He held her close, stroking her back gently.
"You're not dreaming. I wont let anything hurt you, ever again." Shortly, he was riding in the back of one van with her alone, having waved the others off.
"Hey, you. Hold on to me all you want. I'm not letting you go until you want me to."
Dutch buried her face in Fet’s shoulder and started crying freely. As she held herself close to him the bites on her breasts and neck ached, but she didn’t care about the pain at that point. She cried for a few minutes until she was too tired. Dutch wilted into his arms, her head resting against his chest.
“I thought he’d kill you. I’d prayed you’d never show up.” Her voice was slightly hoarse. “I couldn’t have lived with myself if he’d killed you because of me. He would have done it just to make me suffer, just to break me…” She trailed off sadly.
Her hand found his, fingers linking together. Dutch never wanted to let go of his hand. It would be hard to get her to let go.
He stroked her hair as the van paused and pulled over, and He lifted her again, easy as pie and strode out, to take her into his rooms, gently setting her down on his bed, which had been cleaned and prepared for this. He settled next to her, sitting as he held her.
"We're home. And I won't let you get taken away again." He kissed her hair again, letting her hold onto his hand all she wanted.
His promise made her feel a little better. Her former captor was dead and gone. Dutch was safe, finally, and it was all over. She could finally breathe easy. So why was she still shaking?
She still held his hand close to her lips, rubbing her thumb over the back of it. “Will you stay with me tonight? Just tonight. I… I need to be near you.” Almost shyly, she looked up at him.
Part of Dutch wanted a shower. She wanted to wash away everything that had been done to her, but she didn’t want to leave Fet’s side. At this point she couldn’t leave Fet’s side. Dutch was too shaken to be alone.
Dutch nodded, perfectly silent for a few seconds, but still nodding all the while. Her eyes found Fet's again and she almost timidly hesitated to speak.
"Could you... I know it's a funny idea, but if I got in the shower, would you come in the bathroom with me? On the other side of the curtain." She bit her lower lip nervously. Honestly, she'd thought about asking him to just come into the shower with her, but something had told her that it was a step too far for both of them. She wasn't sure she wanted him to see the bite marks on her breasts. He'd already seen them, but he didn't need any reminders of what had happened to her. Dutch wasn't sure she was ready for the intimacy, either. Baby steps.
Fet raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "Of course. Whatever you need. Not so sure about letting you out of my sight, anyway. Gave me a scare, Dutch. Never been that scared for anyone." He nodded.
"Whatever you need, you tell me. I'm here for you."
Dutch paused just a second before getting up on wobbly, unsteady feet. She held onto Fet's shoulder to keep from toppling over. Looking at him she appeared slightly embarrassed. "Help me to the bathroom? I'll be able to stand once I get there, I'm sure."
"Anything you need." Fet helped her into the shower room, and then to sit on closed lid of the toilet. He turned to face the other way, not wanting to intrude, but also not wanting to leave her alone.
He wished he knew how to help more, and so he did all he could, turning on the water, low, at first, and only barely hot, then moving to idly stand, looking away. He would do everything he could for her.
Dutch stripped as soon as she was sure Vasiliy wasn't looking, stepping into the shower underneath the water stream. It felt good until it hit a bite mark. She winced, hissing slightly in pain, but she bit the bullet and decided to go forth with the shower. She grabbed the bar of soap and started to lather up. Once her body was clean, she did the same with the shampoo and her hair.
Completely clean, she rinsed herself and turned off the water. Dutch stood there for a moment, water dripping off of her.
"Could you hand me a towel?" She called out to Fet.
He almost turned when he heard that hiss, but he waited, then nodded slowly, breathing, waiting as he kept looking away, hoping she would be okay. When she was done, he nodded.
"Sure, doll." He grabbed a great big Fet sized towel and slipped it to her around the shower curtain, then got ready to help her out, once she was ready.
She patted herself dry and wrung out her hair, then wrapped the towel around her body. The fluffy terrycloth felt good against her skin. Dutch then stepped out of the shower and smiled tentatively at Fet.
"Like you wouldn't believe. I really needed that." It had felt like she was washing it all away. Everything that awful creature had done. Now she could start fresh. "Thank you."
She sighed and looked at Vasiliy somewhat awkwardly. "Do you have anything I could wear? A shirt maybe? Everything I had got shredded back there..." Her eyes fell to the floor. That asshole had destroyed her clothes.
"Good. We all need some hot water sometimes." He gently offered her his hand, to help her move, again.
"You're welcome. Anytime, Dutch." He offered her a half-smile.
"I have a few t-shirts or sweat shirts that would look like dresses, and drawstring sweat pants that maybe could be cut to fit,. Come on." He led the way toward his bedroom.
"Take your time." There, it was easy enough for him to pull out the clothing for her, then, once more, he moved to the door, looking outward.
Dutch smiled. She felt so lucky not only to have been saved by Vasiliy but to have been taken care of by him. Once in his bedroom, she let her towel slip to the floor. She picked out one of his sweatshirts and put it on. It was enough to cover her up, but she also put on a pair of sweat pants that were ridiculously baggy on her. They didn't exactly fit, but it was much better than being naked.
"You can look." She smiled, reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder. He was being such a gentleman. It was enough to make her fall for him all over again.
He smiled as he waited, he was more than willing to wait for her. She was a good person, and he really liked her, and he hoped he could help her find her way out of this again. He turned, and smiled to her, taking her hand gently and winking at her.
"You look good, as ever, Dutch. Hey. want something to eat?" He had some food he could throw on.
"That sounds perfect." She nodded. How long had it been since she'd eaten? Dutch didn't know how long she'd spent in that awful room with that awful creature, but it had felt like a long time and for that whole time she'd been without food. She also knew that Vasiliy knew how to cook well with few resources. Whatever he made was sure to be tasty.
Dutch gave his hand a squeeze. It made her feel safe, holding his hand. Was that ridiculous? That such a small gesture could have such power over her emotions?
"Good, come on." he led the way toward the kitchen, glancing back at her with a pleased smile. It was the one only she saw, the one with the barriers down and he grinned as he maneuvered them into his kitchen. A quick delve into the fridge and he was soon pulling her close to dump things into the big pot on the stove.
"Gonna revive my patented stew." Soon, hot and good smells were in the kitchen. "Sit, it'll be ready soon."
Nodding, she took a seat at the kitchen table. She watched him as he went to work. It was sort of interesting to watch him at work. Dutch considered herself a pretty good cook, but she didn't take to it quite as naturally as Vasiliy.
Dutch took in a deep breath through her nose. "Smells wonderful." She smiled at him. "Thank you for all of this, by the way. You really are a hero." It was said earnestly. She really believed him to be her personal guardian angel after all of the times he'd pulled her out of harm's way. He was a good guy. Someone she didn't really deserve, and yet someone she desperately wanted to deserve.
Fet blushed at her words, shaking his head. "Just not going to let you face this alone, Dutch. Can't change the past, but I can be here for the future."
He was really not planning on leaving her alone. He had lost her once, and nearly lost her for good. He wouldn't lose her again.
"Besides, you deserve the best." He smiled at her as he stirred, adding a little more spice, then inhaled. "Good. Almost there. Little bowl or big bowl?"
he broke out some water bottles from the fridge and put one on the table in front of her, then nodded.
His words brought a smile to her face. He really knew how to comfort her.
"Big bowl." She had the appetite of a lumberjack at the moment. Dutch sighed. "I'm glad you said that. I'd like you to be around for the future. I'd like to have you in my future." Her lips curled into a smile. Having him in her life was top priority at the moment. She couldn't imagine life without him.
She opened the bottle of water and took a long drink. "If that's alright with you, I mean..."
"You got it." He smiled and grabbed two large bowls down, then ladeled out the thick stew into them, and stepped over to her, placing their bowls down next to one another, as he settled at her side, handing her a spoon.
"I'm not going anywhere." He turned to her, and smiled softly. "As long as you want me... in any way, I'll be there, Dutch. Even if it is just as a big lump who makes stew." he wasn't sure what she meant, yet. And he didn't want to take advantage of her state.
When she was better, well, all bets were off, but for now? He would be good.
She chuckled, the first time in what felt like a very long time that she'd laughed. It felt good. Dutch took her spoon and took a bite of the stew, letting out a satisfied 'mmm'.
"You always did know how to cook." She smiled at him. "How is that? Most guys I know can't make decent ramen. They couldn't cook if their lives depended on it." Those were her friends, though. Always so dependent on takeout menus and their female counterparts. Before Dutch had met Vasiliy she'd been utterly convinced that men were hopeless in the kitchen.
"I've been on my own for more years than I can count. Truthfully, I couldn't cook for a lot of it, but I got tired of eating out. So I started learning, started traveling." He chuckled.
"I went a lot of places where resources were scarce, and I learned from a lot of people. Found ways to make things taste good, to use things I never thought would work as food. And I said I would never stop learning, right? So I wont." He nodded.
