"You got it." He smiled and grabbed two large bowls down, then ladeled out the thick stew into them, and stepped over to her, placing their bowls down next to one another, as he settled at her side, handing her a spoon.
"I'm not going anywhere." He turned to her, and smiled softly. "As long as you want me... in any way, I'll be there, Dutch. Even if it is just as a big lump who makes stew." he wasn't sure what she meant, yet. And he didn't want to take advantage of her state.
When she was better, well, all bets were off, but for now? He would be good.
She chuckled, the first time in what felt like a very long time that she'd laughed. It felt good. Dutch took her spoon and took a bite of the stew, letting out a satisfied 'mmm'.
"You always did know how to cook." She smiled at him. "How is that? Most guys I know can't make decent ramen. They couldn't cook if their lives depended on it." Those were her friends, though. Always so dependent on takeout menus and their female counterparts. Before Dutch had met Vasiliy she'd been utterly convinced that men were hopeless in the kitchen.
"I've been on my own for more years than I can count. Truthfully, I couldn't cook for a lot of it, but I got tired of eating out. So I started learning, started traveling." He chuckled.
"I went a lot of places where resources were scarce, and I learned from a lot of people. Found ways to make things taste good, to use things I never thought would work as food. And I said I would never stop learning, right? So I wont." He nodded.
